Calcium and Kids’ Health
As adults, we know calcium is vital for our bone and teeth health, but did you know that kids and teenagers need it so much more?
When we are growing, calcium is needed to develop strong bones and teeth that will be with us for the rest of our lives, so it is extremely important for kids and teenagers to receive enough calcium while they are doing the vital job of building their bodies.
By the time we are 18 to 20 years old, our bone mass has developed to its full potential, so the amount of calcium received during our younger years then dictates what our bone health is like when we are older. Calcium doesn’t stop at helping us with bone and teeth development. It is also responsible for maintaining our immune system, helping our energy production and hormone release. Pretty amazing, right?
The ChildLife Liquid Calcium w/Magnesium has other helpers which facilitate its absorption and balance it, like Vitamin D and Magnesium. These vitamins make sure the body receives calcium well and it stays there balanced.
Of course, with kids having sports activities and running around with friends, they need all the calcium they can get. Providing a calcium-rich diet is important, but unfortunately, getting it naturally from foods may also not be enough, especially when some kids refuse to eat certain foods. This is why supplementing with calcium vitamins can provide the necessary support for growing bodies.
So how much calcium do kids need?
Infants and Toddlers (1 to 3 years old) need 500 mg daily.
Children (4 to 11 years old) need between 700 and 1000 mg daily.
Teenagers (12 to 18 years old) need 1300 mg per day.
